Maps? Maps! MAPS! (Epic Custom Maps Announcement)

Hey everyone, we've got some fantastic news for you!

Remember how you players always asked for custom maps and we always said "never; not possible!". Well, we changed our minds and decided to implement custom maps, whatever it takes. And a lot of time it will certainly take, so please don't ask for estimations - just trust us, we're working hard on it right now.

We cannot give you a lot of details, but there will definitely be an editor where you can upload your own map image and then draw country borders. You will be able to add all country and city data, and add your own units, fully customized. Scenarios will remain similar to what they are now, but will be able to be based on custom maps as well.

As you can imagine, this will infuse a lot of interesting opportunities into the game - you will be able to add a map/scenario based on Game Of Thrones, Lord Of The Rings, WWI/WW2, American Civil War or even a space-based map (why not?).

Because we're now fully concentrated on this massive undertaking (which feels very much like creating a new game from scratch), there won't be any big updates for a while. But then - BAM! - a huge one! So, be patient

Strategies and upgrades will work in custom maps as well. All units will have generic roles (main attack, secondary defence, support, etc.) to which strategies and upgrades will be applied. تحميل... تحميل...

Casuals are a minority on this game, as are "Hardcore" players. The average player looking for a good time is the majority. So please, do not say "the game is for casuals"- it's built on what the fans want. I seriously doubt a "skillful" 1v1 system is ever a good thing, it sounds like something a 9-year old on Modern Warfare 2 would challenge me to after I beat him. There is no need for a 1v1. The Casual audience is a minority. The Hardcore audience is a minority. The fans know what's right, and the admins know what's right. In an ideal situation there would be a hopper where players are randomly matched against another player, of comparable skill level, on a random map with random game settings. These settings would of course have to be limited and would be subject to change on a regular basis. 5k, 10k, 15k for 1 country. 10k, 15k for 2 countries 15k, 25k for 3 countries (Acqui and I have been experimenting, and these games are really fun.) Based on community input we could leave out certain maps like Pacific and Oceania. (Maps created by the community could also be included) If we combine the idea of a ranking system and custom maps, the possibilities are endless.
